Alternatives set for SALMON Management from PFMC meetings

Monday, March 11 was the last day of the Pacific Fishery Management Council (PFMC) meetings in Fresno, CA where several groups and 4 states (Washington, Oregon, California, and Idaho) came together to hash out a potential salmon season for 2024 despite the low numbers of salmon that are out in the Pacific Ocean.

Final adoption of the 3 alternatives for 2024 salmon season are available to download.

From Friday’s PFMC Meeting: NCGASA President James Stone submitted a Powerpoint Presentation to the Council regarding to the faulty modeling, error ridden escapement numbers and begged the question, how can the PFMC/CDFW manage the species when they can’t accurately measure? The modeling system and data is flawed.
