Where & When
Meet us at the Colusa-Sacramento River Recreation Area Saturday and Sunday on April 12-13 for our annual Striped Bass Fishing Derby. This is a family-friendly event! You must bring one male fish entry to the weigh in station by 4pm. No later. Please check in at the weigh in station if you’re entered into the Derby. There you will receive your raffle tickets and lunch tickets. Please check in even if you don’t enter a fish.
There is a boat ramp there you can use and Kittle’s Outdoor Store is just around the corner to get your tackle and bait. We will have our event area inside the park. You can also pick up bait and tackle at Johnson’s Bait and Tackle in Sutter, CA.

Fishing Boundaries
The 2025 Striped Bass Derby (April 12 & 13) fishing boundaries are Discovery Park ramp to Ord Bend ramp on Sacramento River and from Discovery Park ramp to Live Oak Rock Dam on the Feather River. Fish from a boat or fish from the bank.

$$ Checks and Prizes
Two days, two derbies, two sets of awards and prizes!
$2,000 Grand Champion Bonus (2 days of fishing … who was the closest to the slot size each day)
Adult payouts: 1st place $1,500, 2nd place $1,000, 3rd place $500, 4th place $250, 5th place $100, Big Fish payout $250, Blind Bogey $150
Youth payouts: 1st place $250, 2nd place $150, 3rd place $100 and prizes!
• Free rods and reels for all the youth anglers who participate!
All payments will be a written check from NCGASA. Prizes based on 150 minimum adult entrants and subject to change.
Last day of Derby: Participants can pick up an official NCGASA ruler on Sunday 4:30am to 5am at Colusa-Sacramento River Recreation Area. One ruler per boat. The rulers are ONLY required for the Biggest Fish Catch & Release category that can be either male of female fish. A video or photos are required to enter your “catch and release” striped bass into the Big Fish category.
Do not bring any females to the weigh in station. Only males will be measured.

Drawn Slot limit size announcement for each day will be from 4am to 5am on Facebook Live on the NorCal Guides Facebook page. You can also find more details on our Event page on Facebook, click on the Discussion tab.
$20 Raffle tickets to win prizes
By registrating for the Derby, you’ll receive $20 in free raffle tickets and a free BBQ lunch ticket. Please check in with event coordinators at the weigh in station to receive both tickets.
Weigh in your fish
Weigh-ins each day at the Colusa-Sacramento River State Recreation Area. Weigh your biggest male fish or slot limit fish (only one fish per entry). We will measure and weigh your best fish from 2:30pm to 4pm. No earlier, no later. You must be in line for weigh in before 4pm. Winners and prizes handed out announced shortly after.
