NCGASA’s 2026 Striped Bass Derby

When:  April 18-19, 2026 | Fish one day or fish both days! Must be signed up by Thursday, April 16 at midnight. No sign ups on Friday or Saturday.

Check In / Weigh In Times: Check in FIRST at the weigh in station to receive your lunch and raffle tickets from 2:30pm to 4pm. You may purchase extra raffle tickets at the check in table.

Where:  Colusa-California Sacramento River State Recreation Area / City of Colusa Public Boat Ramp along the Sacramento River near Kittle’s Outdoor and Sport Co.

BONUS entry at the weigh in: $20 Minnow Races! Save your minnows and bring your fastest bait to the weigh ins! NorCal Guide Kyle Wise of Headhunter Sportfishing has made us a minnow raceway and we’re going to hold races each day. One hearty minnow per angler that entered the Derby.

$20 Johnson’s Bait and Tackle Store Credit

Reminder: Do not cut the gill plate, only cut one gill in order to bleed. Head must be intact. Please pay your boat launching fees. 

Big Fish / Catch & Release Entries

Participants who wish to enter the Big Fish / Catch & Release category, male or female striped bass and you must photograph your fish that is 30 inches or more on a official NCGASA ruler. You must pick up a NCGASA official ruler on Friday evening 5-6pm or before the event start at 4:30-5am at Colusa-Sac River State Park near the Colusa Boat Ramp. You must take a photos or videos of your fish on the official ruler with closed mouth to fork of tail. Please revive your fish before releasing and take a video of the release. All rulers must be returned by Sunday at 4pm to NCGASA event volunteers. Please read the rules carefully to enter this category. Thank you to Sitka Gear for sponsoring!
